On 20 July, VINCI Energies, a subsidiary of the VINCI Group, specialising in energy and information and communication technology (ICT), closed a deal to acquire 100% of the shares in Ingeniería de Sistemas y Telemando S.A. (Insitel). Insitel, founded in Bilbao (Biscay), focuses on the design, execution, implementation, and maintenance of control and remote control systems. With a workforce of 41 people and estimated turnover in 2018 of EUR 5 million, the company has a portfolio of clients that includes E.T.S., the Bilbao Port Authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Bilbao), the Bilbao Biscay Water Consortium (Consorcio de Aguas de Bilbao Bizkaia), Euskotren and the Department of Interior for the Basque government (Departamento de Interior del Gobierno Vasco).

This acquisition facilitates the development of important synergies in sectors of major activity for VINCI Energies, such as energy and industry, with Tecuni as the main service brand in the Basque Country.

According to Laurent Clech, General Manager of VINCI Energies España, “This acquisition allows us to expand activity in control systems and process automation where there is growing demand, for example, in logistics, trade, industry, and public service management in cities. In this respect, the Basque Country represents a market with a future for SMART Grid or SMART Cities offers, where VINCI Energies is increasingly well-positioned.”
