VINCI Energies Spain has reached an agreement with a non-profit organization dedicated to the care of the environment. The aim is to commit to the reforestation of a 20-hectare site in Alalpardo, in the municipality of Valdeolmos-Alalpardo in the Community of Madrid, by planting 3,200 trees, one for each of the collaborators who make up VINCI Energies Spain. The resulting forest will reduce CO2 emissions by between 3.5 and 5 tons per year per collaborator.
VINCI Energies Spain wants to contribute to containing the rise in temperatures with initiatives such as reducing the use of fossil fuels or waste management, also by planting trees which, according to scientists, act as genuine sequestrators of CO2.
In addition, the VINCI Energies Spain Forest will contribute to the care of biodiversity. Holm oaks, pines, shrubs and other varieties of plants and wildflowers will be planted and a beehive will be set up in the spring. The land that will be occupied by the forest has an imperial eagle’s nest that will soon live in a proper habitat.
